Daisy Oldaker of 337 Fifth Street was awarded 16 500 by Judge Pearson in the Cuyah court after suing the Pennsylvania Railroad for the death of her husband H Oldaker. He was killed in 1918 when a Pennsylvania flyer struck a street car on Tuscarora Street. Two others died from injuries. the accident occurred during a severe winter spell.

Canton Soldier Dies Aboard Vessel
George H. Buchwalter, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Buchwalter of Canton, died April 25 of pneumonia aboard the Mr. M. S. Monteagle while returning from Siberia. He enlisted in the Canadian army in June 1918, served with the 20th Machine Gun company of the 8 Siberian expeditionary forces, and was born in Canton in 1886. Burial arrangements are made in Canton. he left an 18 month old son Rufus and is survived by his parents and a sister, Mrs. C. J. Keplinger.

Toledo Chef Charged With Murder Refuses to Repent
Lee Pike a 27 year old Toledo chef confessed to killing Hilda Marie Moore 22 formerly of Canton. He shows no remorse in Lucas County jail awaiting grand jury action on first degree murder. Moore's brothers travel from Canton to claim the body and return it for burial. Police say Pike killed after jealousy and claims to have killed to save her from other men. Moore had lived with Pike as his wife since last November but they had separated recently. Pike describes the murder and shows affection for the victim, asking to take her photograph to the electric chair. Authorities remove the belt and blankets to prevent self harm. Moore was married to David Moore in 1916. husband left after a year. The body is expected to be returned to Canton Friday.
