Ships Rammed in New York Harbor Collision Sinks Dredge Navesink
Forty seven men were rescued after the dredge Navesink was rammed and sunk by the tanker Swinburn in lower New York harbor. Pilot John Sims described the collision at 3 58 this morning as the Swinburn struck the dredge in the narrows near Staten Island. The Caronia and Adriatic offered lifeboats, with Adriatic rescuing several men. One seaman, Lars Nelson, swam a mile and a half to Fort Wadsworth. Other crew members were evacuated and treated at nearby hospitals.

George Hoover, 38, of 3118 6th St SW, was admitted to Mercy Hospital early Monday with a severe chin cut and bruises after his car struck a Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Co. train at the Tth St NW crossing.

Slayer Seeks Death Penalty in Missouri Murder Case
