A celluloid film explosion at the Orpheum theater in East Tuscarawas Street caused a small panic among patrons. J Weber, 18, a high school student acting as a senator, was burned and treated for injuries. Safety Director Dunwoodie and Fire Chief vow a stronger push for theater safety ordinances.
The county commissioners awarded a paving contract for a secure road between Canton and Alliance. Vogt & Son submitted the bid of 180.50, with the larger project including a four mile extension from Brookfield to Wayne County line and a storming slag base and cement filler as part of the specifications.
Mrs Marion Gilhooley Lawrie White sues for divorce from William C White, a Cleveland automobile maker. They have not lived together for over a year though share the same St Regis suite. She had previously married Frederick H Lawrie and later divorced him under impulse before marrying White.

David L. Housley a Civil War veteran of Canton Ohio died suddenly of heart trouble Monday afternoon at Columbus Union Station restaurant en route to Dayton to the national soldiers home. He collapsed in a restaurant chair and died in an adjoining rest room. The body was sent to Canton for burial after morgue preparation and relatives were notified.
A group of four men on a handcar stopped on a 150 foot trestle near North Ohio railway when a passenger train approached. Leon Brown aged thirteen and three companions leaped to escape. Three were crushed in the valley below. Only Brown survived with minor injuries. The dead are Thomas Brown, William Schmidt, and Albert Schmidt. The fourth survivor was Leonard Ak. The incident occurred May 4 as the men returned to Akron from Canton.

Milwaukee aviator Charles Carlson twenty four was killed at Silver Lake when his Curtis biplane engine failed during a second rise to 150 feet. He was thrown clear and died upon ground impact as the engine fell on him. Carlson aided in organizing a local aviation school with associates in New Berlin.
W. Co. Knowlton former head of the vice crusade in Canton under Schilling loses his post and returns to his former job hanging wallpaper for the Oliver Wall Paper company.

Nick Peprick a foreigner living at 1902 Harfordst attempted suicide twice on Sunday authorities intervened. Neighbors reported him locking himself in his home and police battered down the door to stop self harm.
