Rochelle School for the Deaf closed after six of seven pupils suddenly gained hearing at a revival by Rev. F F Bosworth at Paul Andersen Chicago Gospel Tabernacle. The six born deaf are Mary Houston Russell Houston Sam Houston Flora Houston Miles Parkman and Gayther Bellows. The remaining pupil will be taken to the meeting in hope of cure.
New York reports relief work in the Mississippi flood zone dominated by the Rockefeller Foundation which spent 11 223 124 dollars in 1927. It funded 85 counties across six states and directed the largest single grant of 2 million dollars to London for a Bloomsbury university center. Funds also supported Pekin Union Medical College in China and anti yellow fever efforts in Brazil.
Two Columbus prohibition agents Frank Millens and Carl Selzer were indicted by a federal grand jury along with Michael DeAngelo of Columbus and Theodore Karnich a Breckinridge real estate figure. The case centers on seizing a truckload of liquor and subsequent transfer to DeAngelo amid alleged ties to illegal distributions.
An explosion at the open hearth department of the Carnegie Steel Co. Duquesne works in Duquesne Pa near Pittsburgh damaged nearby buildings and slightly burned three men who were treated at the company hospital.
