Whitacre, a former man and probable candidate for the Senate, announced Saturday that Senator King will address the Liberal Party meeting. The event follows a night of preparations as supporters assess charges and legal questions in the campaign.
Britain teeters on a national strike as King George declares a state of emergency amid a looming general stoppage. Trades unions warned of further actions while ministers promise food and transport supplies. The Privy Council advised that the strike alone justified emergency measures and the order for a general strike is issued.
Sheriff blames a black plot to wipe out the Santello family after the killing of James Rago 38 in the Argonne district. Rago was godfather to Ed ward and John Santello, who were shot at a party on April 23. George Santello wounded and hospitalized. Rago died from a close range back neck shot, bullet missing location. The investigation notes no witness and fear among local residents.
Union men on Saturday debated a clause in the Canton street railway franchise. They said the N P company would not lose its franchise if cars did not operate along the line for a certain period, due to strike provisions.
Ralph and Glenn, two years old, were found dead in an open field two miles south of the city after a bolt of lightning struck nearby in the evening. The father discovered them while returning from a search with relatives.

The firm, one of the largest in town with capital stock around a million dollars, owes more than $100,000 and cannot meet debts. The filing describes machinery losses and impending bankruptcy and forced sale harming creditors.
A Centre News dispatch from Rome reports that in Egypt a military action by Italian forces defeated seven rebels in the district. The assault resulted in noon May lists of fifty rebels killed and five camps destroyed.
Officials reported a new distance record for 35 000 cubic foot balloons as nine craft started in Little Rock and some were sighted up to 500 miles away. In Akron Goodyear balloons Boettner and Maxson landed 6 45 p m near Welch West Virginia about 645 miles from the start.
London May Day crowds grow tense as Communist celebration unfolds amid strike atmosphere. About three thousand communists march to the hall where trades union congress delegates meet and sing the Red Flag as bands play.
City Solicitor James F. E. Kinnison seeks two padlock orders for Canton properties with liquor law convictions. Defendants Susie and Robert Daniels and Jack Bartus are named. Kinnison asks the court to close both properties for one year.
Canton fans choose between two season openers with the O. P. team facing the Agathons in Massillon at 3:30 PM and a City league doubleheader at Lakeside Stadium starting at 1:30 PM. Local players include Glen Shinn Leo Gantz McCoy Larry Walther and Eddie Moore with Red Hart likely to pitch for Massillon. The O. P. squad features players from eastern Ohio and western Pennsylvania and holds a stiff practice ahead of the opener.
In Kenmore Ohio May 1 a woman, Mrs Lillian McGinnis, shot and killed Frank Rara 27 Akron married, at her home rear door after he demanded to talk with her daughter Louise 29. The victim was hit by two bullets as five fired, two took effect, officials say bullets entered from the front. Rara was free on bond for grand jury in a recent Akron shooting involving Louise Brinker. Prinker was not seriously hurt.
May day report from Grant hospital in Columbus says Mrs. Margaret Lowe 25 near London is in critical condition and may not survive the day. Her husband Harry Lowe a farmer is charged with assault and accused of beating her last Tuesday.

Miss Minnie Fickett of Saco Maine found a shilling dated 1727 about the size of a dime. One side bears the word Hamburger around a feudal castle figure. The coin was unearthed fifty years ago during building demolition at Little Falls Maine.
