Robert D. Hurford 43 percent of 1117 Dewalt ar NW was named deputy clerk of the Canton municipal court on Monday to succeed Newton Domer who died more than a week ago. He is brother of Ross Hurford the court clerk and a familiar figure in local municipal circles.
London March 31 Labor Prime Minister J R MacDonald saw the government lose a Commons vote 188 to 179 on suspending the 11 PM rule ending daily debate. The setback follows a prior reversal over the coal mines bill, with Liberal support keeping the government afloat during naval talks.

Bert L. Paine, Limaville farmer and hospital trustee, was appointed Monday to fill the county commission vacancy caused by Charles A. Fromm’s bribery conviction. Paine, chosen from 20 candidates, will qualify and take seat at the next meeting, with Fromm expected to remain in office pending further action.
