French Marine Ministry reports a German submarine has been sunk by a battleship. The incident is part of ongoing wartime activity as English ships face undersea attacks and Allied countermeasures.

Sunny Brown, who mortally wounded John Herndon alias John Harrington in a revolver fight at the Flatiron saloon on Gherry av SE, was found hiding in a rear house at 608 12th St SE by police. He was jailed on first degree murder charges and pleaded not guilty. Brown had been hiding with several colored residents since after the shooting and claimed self defense. Little Johnny Silugy from Roumania wants schooling and to become a locomotive engineer. He told Judge Quinn that his stepfather beat him and barred schooling, prompting a warrant for Sam Jagg's arrest. Judge Quinn called for giving the boy a chance, noting his brains and tears.
