Revolver Duel Fatal in Saloon over Card Game Cheating
In a Monday night duel at the Flat Iron saloon 610 Cherry Ave SE John W. Herndon alias John Harrington a 37 year old colored waiter from 828 Mahoning in Youngstown was mortally wounded by a bullet fired by Sunny Brown of Canton. Herndon died at Mercy hospital Tuesday morning. Brown fled the scene and police have no trace. Coroner and physicians described a bullet entering the left chest passing through the lung shattering ribs exiting near the spine. Inquest set for Wednesday evening with five witnesses.
