Dr Edward G. McCormick, 73, longtime Waynesburg physician and Democratic candidate for coroner, died suddenly Sunday at his daughter's home after returning from a call in Akron. A graduate of Ohio State University, he practiced 51 years with offices in Canton. Survived by wife Lucy, son Edward of Akron, daughter Helen C. Borsenberger of Waynesburg. Herbert Shipman suf fragan bishop of the Protestant Episcopal diocese of New York died of heart disease yesterday shortly after leaving Calvary Church where he presided over a two hour communion and confirmation service. Congregants observed his gray complexion and faint voice, though they felt he spoke as though inspired during his final sermon.

Investigators report spreading rails caused the Mansfield to Toledo passenger train wreck seven miles west of Mansfield on Sunday. Engineer Charles Bell, 54, was killed when the locomotive left the rails and plunged into a bank. The fireman escaped. passengers were shaken up. Bell likely died from scalding steam and water from the boiler. Three baggage coaches were involved.
