Canton Company Buys Airedale Duchess Arrives in Canton

Canton, Kan. Dr. EK 8S Folk announced a local firm bought Kippen Countess, a top Airedale living in Mobridge South Dakota. The AKC registered canine weighs 47 pounds and will debut in the three year old class. The dog’s owner plans Chicago Minneapolis and St Paul appearances after the Columbus Ohio show.

Massillon Ends Three Year Interscholastic Basketball Careers

Massillon High School ends the careers of three players after a Friday loss to Alliance High. Captain Rider, guard Kester, and guard Boughman will graduate in June. Rider starred for three years and led this season. Kester was a four year player and last year’s captain. Boughman played one year.

Marietta High Captures Ohio Interscholastic Title

Marietta High claimed the Ohio interscholastic basketball title after defeating Mansfield in the Delaware tournament hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. The team’s season featured strong showings against Zanesville Lancaster Nelsonville Wheeling Parkersburg Bellaire Hannibal New Lexington Mount Vernon Grove City Springfield Delaware Mansfield Ruinas and Stivers High. Canton Dogs Win Big at Columbus Kennel Show

Cantonians earned top prizes at the Central Ohio Kennel Club show in Columbus. Inkivess the cocker bitch owned by John Wahler won multiple categories including first open limit and a special prize. Madison Grit the French bulldog owned by Dr. C. E. Shilling captured best French bulldog. George Whitehead's Airedale Miss Ginger won first open and first American bred with second in limit. Firebrand, Dr. Folk’s dog, placed second in open and American bred. Over 300 dogs benched. Whaler handled most local entries.

Fast Infielder Is Captain of Darrs for Coming Season

Harry Zandt, regarded as a top amateur outfielder, has been elected captain of the Darr baseball team for the coming season. R. A. Nohl handles business affairs. The Darrs, a county leader last season, will wear new uniforms and seek games with Stark county amateur teams. Home games will be played on the Danner grounds, graded for quality. Zandt leads a fast forming lineup.

Youngster Wins Annual St Patrick Marathon in Philadelphia

Phil Keating of Newark New Jersey, a young member of the Irish American A C, won the St Patrick's Catholic club marathon in 36 minutes 18 35 seconds with a three minute handicap. The report also notes Chinese ball players who recently arrived in San Francisco will tour for seven months and end with a Cuba visit.
