Barber 72, vice president of Central Savings bank and Canton resident, died Tuesday at 4 a m from paralysis. He served in Co C 162nd O V I and was married to Mary Sax ton sister of Mrs McKinley. Survived by three daughters and three sons with relatives in Denver Cleveland New York and Canton. The local G A R to hold services at his home.

Dozen Slackers Taken to Camp in Second Draft Call
The city jail held twelve men described as slackers were taken to Camp Sherman Chillicothe to be forcibly inducted. Lieut. Philip A. Herscher led the group as personnel officer of the 10th Battalion assigned to Canton for this service. The men had waited in Canton for draft board guidance on their registrant status. Seven volunteers were sent to various camps including Arthur M. Clark to Kelly Field Texas and Lester Louis Watson to Camp Devens Massachusetts. Burnice Alexander Hall went to Camp Sherman with the 17th Engineers corps. James W Haupt Antonio Gallaiatta Frank Brown and J W M Crismor joined infantry at Camp Green Charlotte North Carolina. The south draft board noted voluntary infantry coast artillery and medical officers’ training camp inductions are closed. The district exemption board granted Adam Lewis Scherer deferred classification to Class two after his appeal. The north board finished its first quota of physical exams to be held daily 1 to 4 pm. results were not yet available.
