McKinley Five Wins at Akron in District Showdown

McKinley High School clinched the northeastern district basketball title with a 23 to 21 overtime victory over Akron North at Goodyear Hall. Gov. Ivers Y. Cooper will draw the first state tournament opponent in Columbus Monday afternoon. Canton fans filled the arena near 4,000 over two nights as McKinley earns a trip to the state tourney for the third year straight. The team received gold medals from the Rennssalaer Polytechnic Institute Alumni Association, while Akron East shared district laurels and silver medals went to the losers.

Haitian Political Row Settled by Amicable Accord

Port au Prince March 18. President Hoover's commission announced an amicable settlement of the Haitian political controversy. President Louis Borno and opposing forces agreed to appoint banker Roy as temporary president after Borno’s term ends in April.
