Washington March 13 William M Butler chairman of the Republican National Committee testified to the senate Teapot Dome committee that Will Hays once urged him to accept 25000 in liberty bonds from Harry Sinclair 160000 campaign contribution and become a dummy subscriber Mellon testified he received a package of 50000 in liberty bonds from Hays by messenger and kept it safe until the combination was found.
San Fernando valley floods followed the St Francis dam collapse sending a wall of water two miles wide racing toward the Pacific. Residents of Newhall Piru Fillmore Santa Paula Saugus and Camarillo fled as houses and debris were swept away. Red Cross prepared to aid as 63 bodies were reported recovered at Newhall and other towns.
In a real life scene on 4th Street and Market Avenue a neatly dressed man refuses a dime from a beggar who then leads an elderly woman across a street. The businessman later gives five dollars to the beggar, who is later seen intoxicated, suggesting the money was spent.

The body of John Leonard Whitfield, Cleveland murderer who died after a prison breakout, was moved to Cleveland for a decent burial. Columbus police and Warden Thomas denied any search for Marie Price, Whitfield’s former girlfriend, in connection with the escape.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Pittsfield Massachusetts for Hazel White Falcon also known as Mary Lou O'Brien who was interred in Calvary Cemetery here. The body was disinterred Monday and shipped to Pittsfield with identification confirmed by Basil White, her brother.

Arthur H. Griffiths former six year cashier in the state auditor office died yesterday. Funeral services will be held in Columbus tomorrow and the body will be taken to Windsor, Ontario for burial.
Capt Walter Hinchliffe took off from Cranwell Airdrome in a Stinson monoplane at 8 45 on an un announced westward flight with a male passenger named Sinclair. He carried enough fuel for about 3000 miles amid reports of a planned transatlantic attempt with Miss Elsie Mackay as passenger, which were later disputed.
Cleveland officers arrested Ed gar F. Nolan alias Hesser, 31, in connection with the $30,000 Columbus bank holdup of March 6. Nolan is held for Columbus police. four other suspects remain at large.
Grace Hohman a 16 year old Plain City High School student died after attempting to kindle a fire with kerosene at her home. She was severely burned and died at a Columbus hospital.
The Public Utilities Commission approved abandoning the interurban line between Canton and North Canton operated by Northern Ohio Power and Light Co. Rails must be removed by May 1. Freight service will continue briefly to Akron, passenger service reduced to Springfield Lake to Akron, with more buses added. Net earnings last year were $32,000. paving costs estimated at $200,000 to reach county limits.

Clyde Peterman son of Mr and Mrs Herman Peterman of 2920 Rosewood NW is recovering after an operation in Aultman Hospital. Mrs C R Clark injured in an automobile collision at Reedurban intersection of Canton Massillon Road and Brookside Road is reported improved in Massillon.
A head on train crash between Colombo and Galle on the coast railway killed twenty one people and injured many more. The collisions occurred on the single track as trains traveled at speed.
Predictions said the house and senate will fail to pass radio legislation before President Coolidge’s Thursday deadline.
