The eighteen inch gas main carrying one third of Cleveland’s gas supply blew on the John Berde farm near Whippled Tuesday night at 9 30. A defective joint caused the failure and inrush of air sparked the blast tossing hooks and turf far. Gas air filled the area and suffocated nearby air. Repairs were to be completed by Saturday night and East Ohio Gas Co said Cleveland’s gas supply would not be affected.
