Canton public schools saw attendance drop to 91 percent in February from 94 the prior year as flu and grip spread among students. Dr. E. O. Clovis noted most illnesses were influenza type. 295 throat exams and 39 cultures were conducted with six diphtheria, three chickenpox, two whooping cough cases. Four school nurses logged 52 home visits and 107 throat cultures with four positives. Maple School had eight students with perfect attendance. McKinley High had 634 of 1907 with perfect attendance.
