Quarantine violator fined but sentence suspended

New York March 6. Despite French line officers denial the steamer LaTouraine on fire in the Atlantic carried explosives. A custom house manifest lists 4594 cases of cartridges among cargo. Of these 2600 cases weighing 107,000 pounds valued at $44,000 were rapid fire guns and 550 cases weighing 55,000 pounds valued at $23,000 were for other guns. It also carried clothing cotton wheat hams lard blankets turpentine and 139 rapid fire guns.
