The Canton Parent Teachers Association issues a detailed pamphlet promoting a 500000 bond for two new twelve room schools, repairs to existing buildings, and a central high school site. It argues for lower per pupil costs compared to similar cities and outlines plans for vocational training and school infrastructure upgrades.
In Boston on March 6 the Edward Rantoul divorce suit heard testimony from Chester Rumrill known as Chippie who admitted kissing Mrs Rantoul on several occasions. Neal Rantoul described Mrs Rantoul speaking of her divine love for Chippie during the proceedings.
President Wilson seeks repeal of the Panama canal act free tolls clause. The Sims repeal resolution advances in the House Interstate Commerce Committee but House action hinges on Underwood opposition and Democratic delays. A Senate fight looms as Republicans must aid passage. A plan floated would give the president power to fix or exempt tolls for all vessels.
The Canton Parent Teachers Associations urge a yes vote on March 12 1914 for bonds to fund education. They note Canton spends less per pupil than other towns of similar size, with Akron and Canton among the lowest except for Akron due to building costs. Bonds would be forty years, with costs borne by property owners via 65 cents per 1000 assessed value, to be used only as needed.
A basement fire at the exchange drew a crowd of about a hundred from across the city. Ralph Norwood reached the building first after returning from a dance and speculated the blaze began from a water heater near a narrow brick wall between cables and the rest of the structure.
Manager Graham Friday said a heater installed in the basement two weeks ago near a closet likely ignited the wood from the gas flame. The closet was destroyed and the intercommunicating system in the exchange was knocked out. Loss estimated under $100.
Robinson denounces the State Industrial Commission for not intervening in the phone strike. He says the strike will continue with picketing at the exchange and claims the workers are orderly, not violent. Friday, Graham considers affidavits against strikers alleged to have attacked a strike breaker.

President Wilson will travel to Philadelphia tomorrow morning for an eye examination conducted by Dr Schweinitz. He has recently experienced ongoing eye trouble. William E Strassner led the Dexter Harmonic club of Wadsworth in a cantata titled The Rose Maiden at the Wadsworth Opera House Thursday night. The chorus included about 100 singers.

Knights of Pythias of Canton consider building a new temple on a 66 by 100 foot lot at the northwest corner of Cleveland avenue and 5th street NW with a 30 day option. Buckeye Lodge 11 Lily Lodge 362 and Canton Lodge 258 total 1100 members and may buy the full 66 by 200 foot parcel for about 20000 dollars. The group meets at 118 Walnut avenue SE.
A Lake vessel delegation led by D. C. McIntyre of the D. and C. line urged exempting all Great Lake freight and passenger ships from the seamen's bill before Congress. Frank Masten of Cleveland outlined a Cleveland chamber brief opposing inclusion of lake vessels, calling to leave existing laws in force until inland navigation needs are studied.
Joseph Sullivan was brought to police court for trial on charges related to a suspicious person, with attorney Crankshaw seeking dismissal. Judge Quinn set Friday afternoon for the trial as County Treasurer OBrien reported a $16.45 million tax matter tied to oil interests amid Rockefeller era notes.
