East Chicago Indiana March 5 35 year oldGeorge Allen Chisholm confessed to drowning his two sons George 9 and Edgar 6 by binding wire around their waists and weighting it with a steel rail before pushing them into a ship canal. He faced a preliminary hearing on a double murder charge and was expected to be bound over to Lake county criminal court.
Washington March 5 further reports awaited at coast guard HQs on the Texas Oil Co tanker Illinois which wirelessed last night that she was in distress off Cape Hatteras North Carolina. The vessel was drifting propellerless toward rocks as the wireless warned. Coast guard craft from Norfolk Virginia were sent to assist.

He claims double power, fuel cost of one cent a gallon oil, and sparkless continuous gas flow, with seven and a half years of work and a $500000 bill. Production could start immediately.
In Long Beach California on March 5 twenty two people paid a dollar to view spirit forms of their dead. Detective J J Pinnell attended with a front seat at five dollars. After an allegedly empty cabinet spoke three departed mothers the officer kicked the cabinet and was struck by a right hook from the spirit Mrs C C Allen who was then arrested.
Norfolk, Va. March 5. The former Lydia Davies, 19, from New York and Louisville, spends her honeymoon with her youthful husband in a river shack near here. Three weeks ago she eloped from the winter carnival at Dartmouth College with Frederick R. Johnson, 19, heir to a Palmolive fortune. They plan to live a back to nature life here for several months.
Mrs Evangeline Lodge Lindbergh resumes flight from Buffalo to Detroit aboard a Ford-Stout aircraft piloted by Lieut. Albert F. Hegenberger. The party includes Miss Maude Dawson and Maj. Cooper. Weather kept them grounded over the weekend and at Niagara Falls yesterday.
A letter postmarked Sandusky and dated March 5 from Mrs Mae Bachelor 39 a trained nurse to her cousin Mosley Johnson ends kidnapping fears. She states she is safe, dispelling the earlier mystery about her disappearance in Toledo.
Detroit watchers report Dieudonne Costes and Joseph Le Brix were held by a slight ailment in Detroit on March 5. They wished to visit Flint to inspect a spark plug factory but Costes was advised by his doctor to remain in Detroit for further treatment.
San Diego, March 5. Five men died when a homemade plane piloted by W W Bird, who had been refused a license, buckled after leaving a field despite aviation board objections. Passengers Ralph Craig Chester H Kidwell Clifford Dill and Irving Thomas perished. Bird died shortly after.
Jeannie Gourlay Struthers aged 83, one of the few surviving actors who performed at Ford's Theater the night Lincoln was shot, died in Media, Pennsylvania, yesterday.
In New York on March 5 Mrs Ruby Woznak testified that in Texas everybody carries a gun and was held in $500 bail for violating the Sullivan anti firearms law. She faces charges connected to possession or transfer of firearms defendants said. The case reflects national debates over gun laws and states rights.
Fire swept the John Buchanan farm home nine miles south of Lake Sask in the early hours. Six children perished in the blaze while Buchanan escaped but suffered serious burns.
In a Washington interview Senator James A. Reed of Missouri urges peace in Democratic ranks and fights centralization. He calls for local self government, state sovereignty, limits on federal power, end of boards and bureaucracies, and proposes seven corrective changes for the party.
