Three PTA meetings and a Forum club session explained a proposed $500000 Canton school bond. Local leaders urged turnout for the March 12 special election, emphasizing minimal tax impact and the need for new high school facilities to accommodate rapid growth.
President Wilson addresses Congress in a Four minute message urging repeal of the Panama canal act exemption for coastwise U S vessels. He cites treaty implications with Great Britain and calls for voluntary withdrawal from the exemption. Applause follows his brief delivery.
A Canton PTA will hold a debate on March 11 at 7 30 p m in West North Street School over the proposed 5 000 000 school bond. Proponents urge support citing immediate welfare for children while organizers seek willing negative speakers and invite public participation. Judge Harvey Ake notes if negatives are scarce the bond issue seems certain to pass.
Clark W. Metzger told the Dueber Parent Association that a city’s image rests on its schools. He urged well maintained buildings, proper layouts, and safe, sanitary classrooms to attract new residents and promote civic pride.

The Stark County Improvement Association states it is non partisan and says the governor event will not be used for political ends. A Democratic reception committee led by Mr. Kauffman is not authorized by the group and has no formal ties to it.
Washington March 5 The resignation of John Bassett Moore counsellor of the State Department has been formally presented He will join the Carnegie peace foundation and no new developments in the Mexican situation prompted retirement It was noted Moore promised to serve only about a year after his appointment last summer
John Daley of Homestead was freed in police court after a technical charge of begging. Marie Koehnlein, attacked in Nimisilla park, tried to identify Daley as her assailant the next day.
The funeral of Izy Torowski was held Thursday at 2 p m at 1016 Third Street Northwest. Rev. Arthur Bonheim conducted the services. Burial followed at Westlawy Cemetery.
Funeral services for William Shoof who died Tuesday night at his home 1922 Tuscarawas Street will be held Friday at 1 30 p m at his residence and at 2 p m at the First Presbyterian Church Rev George E Jackson will officiate Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery
The Ohio Board of Pardons denied the pardon application of Joe Andy from Alliance. Andy, convicted of killing Nick Lee in Alliance in August 1912, was sentenced in December 1912 to life imprisonment.
A fire at 1250 34 1 shortly before 5 o clock damaged seven relics owned by Charles F. Blau. Firemen found heavy blaze in the attic and arrived as the fire was well advanced. Blau, a relics collector, reported losses of valuable items.
A non union carpenter A F Balizet at the Renkert building was allowed to work after signing a union membership application and paying initiation fees. Contractor Reed arranged the deal and Henry Van Kirk of the carpenters approved the compromise. Van Kirk stated the aim was to have the non union worker join and cited loyalty to organized labor principles.
George Cristo, alleged to have stabbed Demnitru Duma and Ely Moldovan during a Tuesday night fight at a saloon run by George Caplea in 1934 Sth-st NE, will be arraigned before Police Judge Quinn Friday at 8.000 am on assault with intent to kill charges. Duma’s condition improves at Mercy hospital. Cristo has a wife and two children. Bridgeport miners strike Florence mine over sticky bottoms.
