Canton industries report a surge in war production with more than half of local workers in war goods plants. About 13,000 of 20,000 workers are employed under government contracts. 90 day orders have more than doubled. The industries committee foresees another rise in the next 90 days.
Local Democrats circulate a petition to place Joseph C. Breitenstein on the official primary ballot as the party candidate for the fall election. The petition has received the required five signatures for certification to Stark County Board of Elections and is signed by Judge Hubert Pontius.
Washington forecast for March 4 to 9 shows Ohio Valley and Great Lakes generally fair with cooler second half and possible rain or snow Monday in northern lake area. The notice column carries various classified ads including a mahogany tea wagon sale and used items with discounted prices.
