Washington March 1 A fierce split in the Senate over the Victory Loan bill stalls action as Republicans refuse a party filibuster plan. Senator Sherman departs the conference after clashes over forcing an extra session and the President.
Akron capitalists secure a 99 year lease on the old Whiting Brant properties at Tuscarawas street and Cleveland avenue NW. A new bank building costing about 350000 is approved for First Trust and Savings. The complex sale includes the Young Auto Supply Co. and Avenue apartment house sites with Brant and Huntington heirs as owners.
Congressman Roscoe C. McCulloch favors the Gore amendment to the agricultural appropriation bill that would repeal daylight saving in his district, allowing clocks to stay one hour ahead only after April 1. He argues the sixteenth district is in Eastern Time and opposes another shift, noting clocks would run two hours faster than prewar wartime economy.

Washington March 1 One more effort to have the sixty-fifth congress send a constitutional amendment enfranchising American women to the states for ratification will be made before noon March 4. A new resolution differs from the Susan B Anthony amendment by leaving enforcement to the states but Congress can compel nationwide enforcement. The resolution is reported favorably by suffrage committees and key senators will press for votes before adjournment.
