The Detroit convention of the American Socialist party defeated a plan to affiliate with the Moscow Internationale. Conservative leaders Morris Hillquit Al Gernon Lee Victor Berger and Cameron King led the victory to preserve American party supremacy. The ninth national convention rejected dictatorship by the proletariat and ridiculed alleged Communist revolution efforts led by Berger.
Canton merchants meet at the call of Postmaster W D Caldwell to consider a new parcel post system for in and out city merchandise deliveries. Postmaster General Hays says the plan would require new equipment space and staff, but could save merchants money and boost government revenue.

A jury in Judge Charles Krichbaum's court heard the case of Frank Melbourne against Beatrice Melbourne and Grace Pratt, executors of Mary Melbourne's estate. Melbourne, a California native residing there since 1902, seeks to set aside the will alleging undue influence. The estate is valued around $12,000.

In Cleveland on Richmond road near South Euclid this morning Judge Treasch of Akron suffered both legs broken and his wife Mrs Treasch foot injuries while G W Stacey also of Akron received a cut lip and forehead abrasion. All three were taken to St Mark's hospital. An X ray will determine leg injuries. The crash occurred at 8 oclock when Treasch veered to a culvert to avoid a collision with another motorist.

In Columbus on June 27 Wm Rowland filed a petition in error with the state supreme court challenging a public dance permit requirement as unconstitutional. The appeal stems from Morgan County court actions that upheld a $20 fine and costs after Rowland was convicted of giving a public dance at Chester Hill without a permit.
Claimer of Wooster was charged with reckless driving and will be arraigned Tuesday in police court. He posted $500 bond for appearance. It is alleged he struck Fred G Ehman as he alighted from a street car at Lincoln Avenue and Tuscarawas Street and drove off without checking injuries.

A New York Central train struck an auto truck carrying Marion Faye, 4, and his sister Ora, aged unspecified, at a grade crossing near Johnstown.
