County Auditors Ordered to Hold Up 1914 Tax Levy
Ohio officials consider a special legislative session to cut state levies as Governor Cox and State Auditor Donahey urge county auditors to hold the 1914 levy in abeyance. Budget commissions will meet in August unless a special session is convened. The 1914 levy at 0.96 mill would raise about 6.42 million from the 1915 tax duplicate. increases under the Warnes law may shift valuations. The state treasurer extended the tax payment deadline from June 20 to July 15 with no penalties for payments made by then. Cigaret and liquor license taxes are exempt from this extension. The Pennsylvania Railroad paid 44574 for half year taxes, the largest single payment, as the county anticipates near one million dollars in total first half taxes.
