Brisbane crowds greet Capt Kingsford Smith and crew after the Southern Cross lands at 10:15 a.m. local time completing the first America to Australia sea flight. The crew includes C. T. P. Cineyigator, Harry Lyon, and James Warner amid national jubilation.
The Citta di Milano received a radio from the Italia stating all 16 crew members survive. Exact position 10 15 N, 22 E near Brady Bay on North East Land across Henlopen Strait from Spitzbergen. Crew includes Nobile designer commander and Caprini pilots among others.

New York June 9 police extended the hunt for 10 year old Grace Budd who was kidnapped six days ago by circulating descriptions of Grace and Frank Howard last seen with her. Max F. Cohen aged 46 head of the Favorite Knitting Mills in Cleveland died after a several months illness. He helped found the C. A. B. & AA and promoted amateur teams since 1922 and had shown active interest in local athletics for nearly two decades. He returned in December from Boston where he underwent brain surgery.
The Canton Board of Education received a petition from local business leaders seeking a raise in the maximum male teacher salary in public schools to 3900 a year. Former principal C W Weeks, whose request for a raise led to his removal, is cited as a case for the increase. The board had previously set a princip al maximum and approved a 100 raise for principals.
Peter P. Walsh superintendent of police was named in indictments returned by a federal grand jury probing liquor conspiracies in the Pittsburgh district. Police magistrate John W. Orio and North Side police inspector Charles Faulkner were also charged.

Chicago police said John Tulacz 22 admitted he was the fourth member of a bandit gang that killed 18 year old Pearl Eggleston an usher, in a suburban theater holdup. The other three bandits await trial on murder charges.

Mercy hospital reports Frank Charles 25 in serious condition after a poolroom stabbing in Carnahanavy NE. Joseph Pascual, 38, arrested and charged with cutting with intent to kill after confessing at detectives headquarters. The incident began at 821 Carnahanavy NE and moved steps to a second stabbing as Charles sued for his right hip pocket. Charles transported to Mercy Hospital, Pascual detained for questioning.
