Marvin Schrader a 13 year old Canton resident died after developing lockjaw from a nail wound. He stepped on a nail days earlier and the wound appeared healing before he fell ill at the railway station. He was a student at McGregor school. Surviving are his parents Clinton and (name unreadable) Schrader two sisters Virginia and Maybell and a brother Delaney. Funeral at 2 30 Monday at home with burial in Westlawn.
Clarksbury West Virginia reports the Smith Brothers Coal Co pit fire started by a passing auto igniting a mine tipple. Two miners died at the scene while others escaped. In New York Edith Bolling Wilson and her brother will sail for Europe on the Leviathan after midnight tonight. In Johnson City Tennessee Dorothy Baker, long plagued by constant sneezing, has been discharged from hospital to home as the attack gradually subsides though the condition remains.

Forty men arrested in Cleveland liquor raids faced federal questioning after eight carloads of agents and city police hit five west side speakeasies. Officers found 194 cases and 17 bottles of Canadian beer and ale plus over 500 pints of whisky. The beer may tie to a recent Fairview village jail theft.
J. D. Bragg of Circleville Ohio was named chief agriculturist of the state welfare department, succeeding John Hogsett who resigned after being charged by Attorney General Crabbe with conspiring to defraud the state by splitting commissions over a northern Ohio institution site purchase.
James Capsia, 45, of 92 Cleveland Avenue Massillon died after his skull was fractured when struck by an automobile while crossing S Erie Street. The car, driven by Charles Neher, was at a reasonable speed. casualties ruled accidental death. Capsia is survived by a wife and two children.
Saturday morning muny court handed out fines totaling 2800 dollars for liquor law violations. Anna Popp received 2000 dollars plus costs. Elizabeth Benor and Set Guist paid 300 dollars plus costs. Christ Hofer 200 dollars. Other cases included Sam Kruman and Robert Malloy 20 and 10 dollars. George Leonsa dismissed. Leland Coates 15. S A Blosher 15. Harvey Thorley 15. Frank Snyder 3. Lucile Williams 20 days workhouse. George Evens 10 dollars.
In Beira South Africa a lion and a lioness made the golf course their home. An armed hunt killed the male lion but the female remains a hazard at the fourteenth hole.

George Moeller of the Ft. Wayne hotel confessed to Capt. Ed Swope that he burglarized a Springfield grocery two weeks earlier. He waived a preliminary hearing and was bound over to the grand jury on burglary and larceny charges after questioning over a letter from Springfield’s police superintendent seeking a man posing as Glenn Jones.
Patrolmen Elmer Walter Stitz and Pence arrested Elizabeth Benor at 2035 Harrison SW for violating liquor laws after finding 65 bottles of home brew and several gallons in a 10 gallon crack. A second arrest, Wade Ceron of 1653 Hammond Ave SW, follows for similar charges.
A fire at the Coroma Coal Co. mine tipple in Hepgihab near Clarksburg, W Va, caused about 50000 in damage. Firemen and volunteers fought through the night to save the mine as water was scarce and flames cut power and communications.
A motorist from W. W. and Lord of RR was arrested shortly before noon Saturday near Canton and charged with speeding.
Charles E. Nickles manager of the Conrad hotel secured a 99 year lease option on the Conrad hotel property owned by the S. A. Conc rad estate in Massillon. Estimated rentals total about 1.6 million dollars. If the option is exercised he may plan a new hotel at the corner of Mill and Main streets, the historic Conrad hotel dating from the 1850s.
Earl Brooks, 38, remained jailed in Newark after capture ending three days of freedom. Mrs. Nettie Pemberton, 32, and her 14 year old sister were jailed in New Lexington pending charges of aiding in a jail delivery. Brooks allegedly told Sheriff McNabb how Pemberton aided the escape by sawing bars from an outside window last Wednesday morning.
S Ricker of 808 Girst SW collided head on while driving north on High av SW. The other driver refused to identify himself but police list his license 926-294. A second crash at 12th and Market av S involved Theodore Huberty of 600 McCall pf SW with another unnamed driver.
