In Wooster on Buckeye street a market cashier known as Daddy Ferris cashed a $10 check for a stranger Wednesday. The check, drawn on Citizens National Bank and made out to J. B. King, was returned unpaid and the stranger, who gave the name Wilson, could not be located. Ferris is left sadder and wiser by the incident.
In Wooster area on Thursday a Ford coupe struck the Honeytown bridge guard rail injuring two men from Mifflin. Binger was treated and sent home, McCurdy remained in hospital with severe head and facial wounds and a broken right arm. Irvin Lautzenheiser assisted at the scene and the car was wrecked.
Akron July 30 The Ohio Federation of Labor reelected its officers at the 48th annual convention closing ahead of schedule. John P Frey of Cincinnati was named president with Thomas J Donnelly of Columbus as secretary treasurer and Lee Hall of Robing as first vice president. Delegates received a nonendorsement of candidates but learned labor will back friendly legislators. Gov Donahey and Thad Brown were rated satisfactory.
John D. Marshall mayor of Cleveland assumed the presidency of the League of Ohio Municipalities at a meeting in Columbus. Mayor Thomas of Columbus was named vice president and Mayor F A Cromwell of Bellaire was chosen secretary. The league endorsed a proposed constitutional amendment to allow taxing property owners who benefit from public improvements.
