Potatoes Drop To Ninety Cents Peck

New potatoes fell to ninety cents per peck while peas and other market items fluctuate. Oats rose five cents per bushel with quotes at $1.10. Bartlett pears and pink meat cantaloupes appeared in Friday markets as most Breen tables and fruits reduced.

Detectives claim Augustina Felach, an Italian suspect, confessed during recovery from wounds in Mercy hospital to involvement in the Elbel Manufacturing payroll robbery. Two men were jailed in Canton while another was arrested in Youngstown as the trio and accomplices allegedly fled after stealing 4798 in cash and a car.

Federal action urged to meet coal crisis in nation

J D A Morrow of the National Coal Association urged President Wilson to act to end the coal labor strife. He suggested reconvening the wage adjustment commission as a workable path to reconcile operators and miners. Executive officers of the United Mine Workers were given blanket authority to protect the union amid the strike crisis. It was reported Indiana that 195 mines were idle with 25,000 men out. only 200 small mines were operating.

Red Cross Reunion At Waynesburg Grove Delights Canton Crowd

More than fifteen hundred men women and children from Canton and Magnolia joined Red Cross workers at Waynesburg grove for the first big reunion and picnic. Officials from Lake division attended with Starr Cadwallader and Dr. McDonald present, while J H Himes and Vicary also appeared. Autos and buses ferried Cantons residents to the grounds. a bus breakdown did not dampen spirits as vehicles were loaned to shuttle guests. The Granada Army band provided music and L V Busche led chorus singing, with frolicsome races and a crossing creek wading contest among the highlights.
