Canton endures a blistering heat wave with temperatures reaching 95 after a night low around 70. The Atlantic high pressure drives the heat while forecasters warn no immediate cool relief, as residents seek shade and store awnings for relief.
State Rep M E Warnes says at least two solicitors who circulated petitions for the Green workingman’s compensation referendum will be prosecuted in Stark County courts. Warnes claims illegal signatures and petitions from Canton Alliance and Cleveland. Don Harter to prepare affidavits. warrants out for F W Retel. Canton men deemed not under suspension.
United Press reports C R Mc Caslin of Cleveland, a solicitor for signatures on petitions against the Green workmen's compensation law, was arrested at noon by detective Eckerman. He faced perjury charges and had petitions against the Warnes and Kirkpatrick bills. he was jailed and to be arraigned before Judge Vaughan the next morning.
