City hospital bars patient over lack of physicians
Aultman hospital refused a maternity patient admission Wednesday arguing no physician was available to care for charity patients. City physician Dr William Scott said the hospital would not accept state cases until August 1 when a new group of doctors begins. The patient was sent to another facility.

T H Bevan of Canton, 23, with the Canadian Engineering Corps, killed in action, and Corporal Francis E Williams, 22, of Alliance, the first Alliance Marine to die in action. Williams fell June 6, the same day as John Welsh of Lisbon. Welsh and Williams enlisted at Alliance together. Welsh death announced June 19. Bevan’s mother, Mrs Elizabeth Mainwaring, widow, had not been notified by noon Thursday.
