Newport R I July 22 three persons died when the new passenger liner Boston of the Western Steamship Co was rammed by the oil tanker Swift Arrow in dense fog off Point Judith. One woman and two men perished as 600 passengers were rescued. Copeland of Brookline Massachusetts was seriously injured and removed from the wreck. The tanker Swift Arrow on route to San Francisco caused the crash.
