Engineer Leo Algner and Fireman Jacob Cleveland were hospitalized with serious injuries after a Michigan Central freight wreck in Toledo Ohio. They escaped death by leaping from the cab as the engine rolled into an open switch and down a embankment. Officials attributed the accident to boys seen playing near the tracks.
Eleanore Ott aged 11 of Birmingham and Gladys White aged 18 of Elyria drowned in the Vermillion. Their bodies were recovered after they vanished late yesterday. Mrs Ott, dragged from the river by W H Johnson of Lorain, had tried to save the children.
