Miss Maud McElroy of Ottumwa Iowa will become the new general secretary of the YWCA beginning September 1. The appointment was announced by Mrs Chas Cook and comes after her tenure as dean of women students at Parsons College Fairfield Iowa.
Milwaukee temperance worker Rev Louis R Patmont who vanished from Detroit a second time was found in Rib Lake Wisconsin in a dazed state. Relatives and private detectives had traced him across Wisconsin and Detroit. A brother Oscar Patmont and others had also disappeared with him. Dispatches said he was recognized by a friend and warned to leave Detroit.
The board of education plans a public hearing Monday night on a proposed Market av N site for a new high school. F E Case objects and suggests multiple high schools around the city. The board will likely hear input and defer a decision to a later meeting.
Anna Schoenberner of Massillon files for divorce claiming her husband threatened to kill her with an axe at their home. She alleges he locked her out, threatened to commit her to an asylum, and notes his liquor-law violations affect her property and the liquor tax. Filed by T. C. Davis.
Reuben S. Lenhart filed suit Monday against Bessie B. Leib and others to marshal liens in execution on a judgment. Herbruck and Black are his attorneys.
Clyde Mitchell twenty three of Huntsville Alabama was struck and killed by a Pennsylvania freight train while assisting in unloading a carnival show in Massillon. His companion Floyd was injured.
Fair tonight and Tuesday with regional temperatures listed. An accident report notes Duncan dislocated shoulder after being struck by a train. Mitchell was knocked from his shoes as two trains passed them on the tracks. Coroner Gavin investigated the incident in Massillon.
H A Kennedy lodge 395 of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen hosts a ball at Meyers Lake Park with Emerson's orchestra. Admission 50 cents per couple, extra ladies 25 cents. Event appears in the 18-19-20 notices.
Akron coroner Kendall declares a young woman found dying in a South High Street rooming house likely died from a rare poison. Dr H D Tod, who cared for her in the city jail, says she died of alcoholism. Police seek a man who rented the room with her and disappeared Sunday posing as her brother. The woman is unidentified.
A quarrel over meat between Italian laborers led to Carmine Villano striking Dominick Bengimenga with a track jack lever. Bengimenga died Sunday afternoon in Massillon City Hospital from a fractured skull after a trephine operation. Villano and Natali are missing. no warrants issued.
Lawrence Buss Donald Bailey and Sam Weimer are charged with chopping three tires from J. S. Spencer’s car and selling them to a junk dealer for 1.08 dollars. They reportedly used a hatchet when the tires would not detach and fled during the attempted theft of a fourth tire. A juvenile hearing is set for Tuesday morning before Judge Krichbaum.
John A. Reemsnyder a Market avenue contractor was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Norwood for resisting Constable Richards during a property attachment. He posted bail to appear in Justice Blake's court Tuesday morning.
In Paris the wife of the former premier, Mme Caillaux, burst into tears as the indictment for Gaston Galmette’s murder was read. She entered the court in black with a white collar, pale and nunlike, flanked by two guards during the assizes proceeding.
Four local physicians filed for the city health officer job as filing deadline passed. The applicants are Dr. Charles A. LaMont, Dr. J. H. Beatty, Dr. A. H. Calhoun, and Dr. C. E. Exline. Examinations will be held Tuesday before the civil service commission. former health officer Dr. Frank DaHinden resigned weeks ago.

In Columbus, Gov. Cox faces immediate opposition as Republicans push a caucus bill to abolish the 0.6 mill good roads levy and redirect about 3 million dollars to road construction. Senate panels back Cox, while Republicans seek investigations into administration spending and job creation. Cox asserts his program will pass despite dissent.
A settlement closed the injunction suit of George G. Towner against Harry Buechler and others over removing Hazel Buechler's body from Westlawn Cemetery. Buechler is barred from moving the remains but may care for the grave and be buried beside her if he wishes.
Attorneys argued the dismissal of R F Patterson, former police captain, over unpaid debts may exceed statutory suspension grounds. Judge Day heard the motion to quash mandamus proceedings and considered that civil service rules, not debt nonpayment, govern police suspensions. ruling awaited.
Ray Bandy of Alliance filed an answer to Nick Palasan’s suit claiming Palasan caused the crash by riding a bicycle on the wrong side of the road. Hart and Koesler represent Palasan.

Albert Welsbacher of 219 McKinley Avenue SW has been chosen by City Auditor Brumbaugh as successor to the late Charles F. Zerbe. Brumbaugh announced the appointment Monday. Welsbacher will begin duties midweek. Brumbaugh praised him as a good man and hard worker. Welsbacher is married.
The Salvation Army is delivering free ice to 23 poor families daily with 368 dollars in the fund. Morning deliveries continue and milk will be added to sick families on Tuesday. Eggs may follow later as a free delivery program expands.
Edith Sigfried received a divorce from William M. Sigfried on Saturday for infidelity. She reverted to her maiden name Myers.
J. J. Armstrong, Stark County school superintendent designate, will start duties August 1. He plans to move his family from Akron to Canton and will supervise all rural and village schools outside Canton Alliance and Mansfield.
Constitutionalists in Chihuahua Mexico announce plans to extradite Gen Victoriano Huerta and his government for trial on charges of murdering President Madero and Vice President Suarez. Carranza allies say Huerta will be shipped aboard the Dresden to Kingston Jamaica as soon as his party boards the Mexico.
Attorney James L. Amerman denounced Ohio divorce procedures before Judge Abe, saying late alimony claims taint cases and chill defendants from contesting. The remarks occurred during Mary B. Wheaton’s alimony request against Harry O. Wheaton in a divorce filed on grounds of extreme cruelty. Judge Ake granted $20 alimony and set the hearing for August 14.
