Columbus July 19. Price Russell of Creston is named the Democratic member of the new state board of clemency for a four year term. Russell links to the former clemency board, Governor Cox era, and served as executive clerk to Governor Donahey. The board was reorganized in 1921. Williams, publisher of the Jackson Standard-Journal, is a former state senator and former consul to Cardiff. He ran for the Republican gubernatorial nomination in 1922 and is now visiting Maine at his son’s home.
A gas leak caused a fatal blast in a Columbus apartment early today killing 37 year old Mrs. Elizabeth Ott and injuring her son Lemuel Ott 18 and renter P H Harrington. Harrington was lighting a gas stove when fumes ignited and another stove toppled during the flare up.
Police seek suspects after two unusual thefts in Elyria on July 19. A woman is believed to have removed clothes from D. A. Gurney's yard line. Thieves also stripped a movie machine at the Auditorium theater, causing a theater closure.
July 19 report that Harry S. Elliot resigns as editor of the Daily Times to return to Marion and serve as managing editor of the Tribune, which will be converted into a morning paper. Elliot is a former treasurer of the county.

Nelson Serries and Robert Harris, inmates at Lucas county prison, escaped from the State Fair Grounds where they were working as trustees. Both were serving one to fifteen year robbery sentences and had been received at the prison in July 1921.

Former Ohio Governor Harry L. Davis told a Jackson-co farmers and merchants gathering that the state tax bill will drop from 10 to 12 million dollars due to economies and new practices. Rear Admiral Charles Dwight Sigsbee A N hero of the Maine died of heart disease at his New York home aged 78. Born in Albany he entered naval service in 1859 and served in the Civil War. He commanded the Maine when she blew up in Havana Harbor in 1898 and earned promotion for gallantry in the Spanish War. He authored works including The Personal Narrative of the Battleship Maine.
Washington reports Secretary Weeks will not seek to intervene in the dispute between Governor General Leonard Wood and the Filipino cabinet. Officials say Wood has full confidence of Weeks and the Harding administration to handle Manila disturbances, with a formal policy statement only if necessary. The cabinet resignations are not seen as requiring federal action.
Police in Huntington West Virginia seek three men who robbed Buford Hood at Paddle Creek Wayne County taking $7 cash and his car. Hood walked several miles before reaching a house to call police.
