Vienna reports the Italian armored cruiser Giuseppe Garibaldi was torpedoed and sunk in the Adriatic south of Ragusa by an Austrian submarine. The ship of 7234 tons carried 500 men and joined sisters Francesco Ferruccio and Varese in patrols along the Dalmatian coast.
