Doctors, deeming the pin dangerous to remove, prescribed regular meals and hope the object will pass naturally. The infant remains lively and seemingly happy as medical staff monitor his condition.
Police restart investigation into the murder of 8 year old Francis McDonnell son of a Staten Island police officer. His mutilated body was found near his home in a woods after a manhunt. Investigators discard last 36 hours clues and clear all suspects. A degenerate questioned overnight was absolved after witnesses said he did not accompany the boy into the woods.
In Sao Paulo the city faced massive bombardment as 15,000 federal troops surrounded the city to drive rebels from entrenched positions. Artillery shells fell within a half block of the U S consulate but did not strike the building. The attack stirred alarm among consulate staff.

The U S coast guard cutter Bear reported disabled and perhaps lost in Arctic ice floes arrived at Nome Roadstead late yesterday and is coming in under her own power. The vessel's status and condition were not specified beyond the recovery under way.

Jackson July 17 former probate judge Reed M Powell of Jackson county pleaded guilty to embezzling 3503.28 in court funds. He is sentenced to two to ten years in Ohio Penitentiary and has resigned.
Edward G. Bockius, manager of the Valentine theater, is found not guilty in Canton criminal court of keeping his theater open on Sunday. The Lord's Day Alliance prosecuted 10 local theater owners. jurors deliberated 2 hours 40 minutes before acquittal.
Cleveland July 17 compulsory vaccination ended in the city smallpox district after ten thousand people were immunized in one day as police swept a five block area. A corps of doctors and nurses administered the vaccine and the quarantine was lifted except where disease exists.
George McDonagle 31 an electrician was questioned after Miss Jane Barnes 35 died in a Cleveland hospital from injuries believed linked to a boat trip for a Republican county picnic on June 22. An empty beer bottle and bruises suggested she was struck. Milas Barnes found her unconscious aboard the C B boat upon return to her pier.
Mary E Latigan identified the body of her brother Joseph Latigan in a morgue in Youngstown Ohio ending a 37 year disappearance from Jackson Michigan. No word had come of the missing man during all these years.
