German counter attack fails to renew infantry action as American troops crush the Teutons on the Marne. Allied forces report heavy bombardment behind the lines and sinking enemy positions while Pershing’s men earn high praise for bravery and success in the engagement.
A Canton campaign urges every plant worker to take an oath to work daily for war production. Workers will earn red white and blue buttons as a symbol of devotion as Sergeant Ronald Kingsley of the Fifth Canadian Infantry explains the soldier at home supports the war by steady labor. Allies checked the German fifth phase west front offensive within hours. Daybreak to noon saw the advance stopped.
