Severe electrical storm and high winds devastate parts of the county. Damage includes damaged telegraph lines, blocked streets, uprooted trees, and a garage lifted by tornado like winds, with a house and vehicles toppled and a bottle of acid found amid debris. No serious injuries reported though warnings persist.
A deceased man was found in the old canal near the Tral Steel works Massillon by workers on their way to duty. Coroner's inquest could not identify him or determine cause of death. He wore silk garments with a laundry mark and carried cigars. likely a worker at the plant.
Senator Oscar Underwood of Alabama in a Senate speech supports the league without amendment saying the foremost question is the future preservation of world peace. He argues dangers to the republic arise today and stresses practical action over dreamy ideals as nations contest land and colonies.
Near Kingston New York July 15 the locomotive boiler exploded at 30 miles an hour killing Engineer Eugene Hankinson Fireman Popowich and Brakeman Earl. The blast wrecked track and delayed traffic for hours. The train had just taken on water at a station. No cause is known. The bodies were brought to Kingston.
Fred Baker a 34 year old Timken Detroit Axle employee was struck by a car driven by W B Miller at the Waynesburg road near the Timken plant. He was crossing the street when hit and run over by the wheels. Baker was taken to Mercy hospital and listed in fair condition Tuesday morning.
