Italians and allies defend Albania as enemy retreats from Fieri leaving air drome and planes intact. Roman cavalry advances ahead of infantry while Latins seek new defenses along the Skhumbi River. Bulgarians shell French and Greek positions as Austrians abandon large quantities of war material.
RIS July 12 report that French troops advanced five miles toward the Aisne and Marne fronts, capturing Longpont and nearby strongholds. Raids in Champagne and Montdidier areas yielded prisoners and artillery gains. The war office noted 120 prisoners and 10 machine guns captured in a minor action southwest of Morris.
Washington July 12. Irish regulars were blamed for outrages against Americans at Tabriz, per a Spanish government note to the state department. The report, if corroborated by the United States, could become a casus belli. Swedish and Turkish officials exchanged telegrams as inquiries continue.

Stevens and Quartermaster Philip Goldman reached shore and were taken prisoner. Missing are Charles J. Tatulinski and John P. Vogt.
