Detroit July 1 officials say a new type of submarine chaser is ready to enter service with others nearly completed. The vessels, about 200 feet long, feature a steel bow and are designed for ramming and sinking underwater craft. Officials expect plant to run at full capacity in two weeks.
The national liberal club dinner honored Admiral Sims and American officers with praise for President Wilson. Asquith compared Wilson to Washington and Lincoln, saying he carried his people toward the greatest decision of the age and urged a league of nations to unite allies and neutrals in a dominating world aim.

The steam trawler Georgia of Boston was sunk off Boston harbor today in collision with the steamship Bristol bound from Norfolk for this port. The Georgia's crew was saved and landed here. The accident occurred during a heavy fog.
In Columbus on July 11 a national drive aims to raise wheat acreage this fall. State officials, with Gov. Cox, approved a 2.40 per bushel price for 1919 to spur production, claiming it would raise planting by about ten percent while wheat currently trades around 2.20.
