Eight hours after the crash a dire situation at the Italia ice camp near Spitzbergen unites hopes for survivors. Lieut. Sarko of Finland plans a rescue flight to the camp as two men are confirmed dead and authorities brace for news.

John W. Rinder 46 of 305 1st NW and John Axxe 41 of 1126 Bordner Ave Massillon were killed when struck by Pennsylvania flyer No 22 near Earl's Crossing. Both bodies badly mutilated. Funeral plans set for Massillon Cemetery. Coroner notes this as fourth tragedy at Earl's Crossing in recent months. In Steubenville two girls 19 Isabel Hughes and 18 Mildred Delaney were hospitalized after injuries crossing trolley tracks on Fourth Street track.
In Natal Brazil on July 10 authorities indicated the avia Marchetti transatlantic plane piloted by Maj Arturo Ferrarin and Maj Mario Del Prete will not depart for Rio de Janeiro until the weekend. The craft itself is not expected to arrive from Tours before Friday delaying the mission.

Steubenville July 10 The Follanshee Brothers Sheet and Tin Plate Co will re open the Follanshee plant providing work for about 1260 men. The plant has been idle for two weeks due to repairs.
Former Oregon Senator George Earle Chamberlain will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery after funeral services at 10 20 at Wardman Park Hotel Basin following his death yesterday in Washington July 16 1934.
In Atlanta the senatorial committee probes alleged graft in Georgia politics as L S Peterson postmaster of Douglas commits suicide. Witness Roscoe Pickett says Peterson gave 150 dollars to the state Republican organization not 2000 as claimed. The panel seeks testimony from federal workers about coerced contributions.
Prices of commodities rose two fifths of one percent in the week ended July 7. Grain feeds and livestock helped lift the index, with gains in certain foods tankage ground bone alcohol hides and coffee. The index based on 451 commodities with 1926 as 100 stood at 95.8, up from 95.2 a week earlier.

He warns prohibition will decisively influence the campaign and likens Hay to defeat for the ticket. Reed also opposes extreme groups and recalls post war tensions with Hay.
Secretary Kellogg facilitated talks that brought Chile and Peru to resume diplomatic relations after 17 years of rupture. An official announcement was expected soon, with potential progress on the Tacna Arica dispute before Kellogg leaves office in March.

U S Steel Corp files suit against the government seeking 111 million dollars as a tax refund for income and profit taxes assessed in 1917. The company had consolidated its return that year, showing total tax of 188 million after prior refunds.
The Farmer-Labor party opens its national convention in Chicago with expected unqualified endorsement of the McNary-Haugen farm relief bill. Laure Hughes Lunde of Chicago will give the keynote address as the party plans a vigorous campaign with national and local tickets. Sergt. Alva R. Conner staged an amateur balloon race from his yard at 720 Maryland Ave SW on July Fourth. About six three foot balloons carried neighborhood boys names. one labeled Jack Crowl, eight, landed July 6 at R G Rediper farm near Elk Stone in Shenandoah National Park. Conner estimates a 325 mile flight. Rediper sent a note to Jack, sparking demand for frequent races.
Denver officials prepared first degree murder charges against A. E. Dickson, 81, the confessed slayer in a love triangle. Investigators gathered new evidence in the killing of Herbert H. Powell, 19, alleged friend of Mrs Zella Dickson, amid Dickson claiming the shooting was accidental during a scuffle with Powell.
Canton and Stark county faced record heat this Monday as a heavy downpour dumped 12 inches of rain in under an hour. The storm cooled the city, with the temperature dropping 19 degrees by evening, then rising again overnight. Six more heat deaths were reported as the heat wave continued to impact the region.

C. D. Henry, 84, Herbert Hoover's father-in-law, is reported resting easily at a Placerville sanitorium. He suffers from heart disease and paralysis.
