The massive issue aims to retire all 5 billion in war bonds and will prompt a new, larger program next spring if the war continues. Retail prices for strawberries and cherries rose on Tuesday. Strawberries sold at 20 cents a box, up four cents from Monday. Cherries climbed by a full cent to 14 cents a box.

William C Dougherty, 60, an elevator operator at the Courtland hotel on Court Avenue, fell from a seventh floor window to the street at 9 15 Tuesday morning. He sustained fatal injuries, died before aid, and the body was taken to Miller Blanchard undertaking rooms. He leaves a sister and had lived in Canton six years. Funeral services will be private Thursday.
Charles B. Lind of 206 Schwalmar NE was found not guilty of driving while intoxicated after a nearly hour jury deliberation in police court. This marks his third trial in nine months for similar charges and follows a 60 day workhouse sentence from November by Police Judge Quinn without a jury.
