Toledo July 7. Charles Hoppe former chauffeur admits a pattern of lust crimes before the Lily Dale Croy and 7 year old Dorothy Szelagowski killings. Prosecutors seek death penalty while Hoppe may know by Monday if life will be exacted.
The Italia expedition sufferer Sora is missing after leaders stayed on North East Land. Ten chasseurs remain on the ice while authorities fear another death from the perilous surface. In Copenhagen, Lundborg’s rescue is cited as legal drama unfolds over a separate Toledo murder case tied to a killer known as the “clubber.”
Dr John A Rhiel a city physician and surgeon and World War veteran died at Aultman Hospital from pneumonia after a severe cold. Born in Robertsville in 1862 he began practice 40 years ago in All and later moved to Malvern to continue his work.
In Natal Brazil Majors Arturo Ferrarin and Carlo Del Prete wait as repairs are completed on their Savoia monoplane before they resume a coast to coast flight toward Rio de Janeiro. The Italian ambassadors and officials oversee the reconditioning expected to take about a week after earlier endurance and long distance records.
In Dessau Germany at 3 41 today Johann Risticz and Wilhelm Zimmerman set a world endurance flight record of 59 hours 37 minutes and were still airborne aiming for 65 hours. The Junkers flyers tied the earlier 60 hour mark at 2 41 today. Risticz had held the record before Ferrari and Del Prete recently surpassed him. The Italians retain the long distance flight record for their Rome to Brazil flight.
Mrs Henry Grimm of Canton received a suspended jail sentence for kidnapping her daughter from the Usarawas eo Children's Home at Dover. Probate Judge J H Lamneck found her guilty and held her responsible for the act, noting the gravity of the offense.
Izaak Welton League of America will form this fall to combat water pollution in the Great Lakes region. Doelner, league general manager, said a meeting will likely be held in Toledo with invitations to governors of Illinois Indiana and Michigan.

Avery Hopwood American playwright and Cleveland native drowned at the Riviera. His body was moved to Cherbourg to sail to New York. Funeral services planned in New York or Cleveland in about ten days with his mother accompanying the body. cramps at a beach outing are cited as a possible cause.
Dr C A Lamont of Stark County Medical Society lauds Dr John A Rhiel in a Saturday statement. He notes Dr Rhiel’s life given to humanity serving the needy and calls Canton to feel the loss of a great man whose charitable heart helped the poor around the clock.
Dr Rhiel died leaving widow Jennie Riehl two daughters Mrs Peterson of Cleveland and Mary Rhiel at home three brothers Ed Canton Alfred Malvern and Rev Dr A Rhiel Portsmouth. He served in WWI medical corps at Columbus Barracks now Ft Hayes and became Canton city physician in 1925 a longtime American Legion and Masonic activist. Funeral at 2 30 p m at Westlawn Cemetery with Rev O M Adam officiating.
In Cleveland on July 7 Mrs Anna Scherba 34 fell 14 stories to her death while cleaners on the 14th floor misjudged an open elevator shaft. Mrs Rose Bowman was saved moments later when she opened the door lock and nearly stepped into the shaft. Patrolmen pulled her clear from the shaft entrance.
John B. Hammond, a vice crusader, has received five life threats since announcing plans to attend the national Prohibition party convention in Chicago July 10-11. Four threats came from Chicago and one from Buffalo. The letters will be given to Chicago police. one urged Hammond be blown up with a bomb. The Buffalo note labeled him and others in the movement a bad gang of rascals and said they should be hanged.
Two curb vegetable markets will open Tuesday July 10 in Stark county. One at Summit School on 10th NW and another at Wells Park on McKinley SW. Mrs. A T Weidman will oversee both markets with proceeds funding a World War soldiers memorial.

In Kentucky, armed pursuers hunted Napier and Kelly after they killed Sheriff Ball and Deputy Hensley when police attempted arrest near the Marlan Pineville road barricade. A Middlesboro man, John Smith, aided by Evarts workers, led to arrests. In Virginia, Andy Dockery and deputy game warden John Carter were found shot dead after a feud sparked by gossip. In Urbana, Osler Oiler was killed by William Keeran after Oiler fatally shot M. H. Keeran and threatened Mrs Keeran.
Delbert E. Walker 2814 Rosewood NW was added to the police force Friday night as a 884&4 cadet by Chief E. W. Hexamer. The department now lists 82 active personnel including officers and desk men. Patrolman L. A. Wortman remains on disability after a runaway horse incident at Schroyer Ave and Tuscarawas. With 82 on the list the force stays below the legal minimum of 110. Vacation season reduces staffing further during summer. each man receives two weeks plus two days off monthly for a total of 16 days.
Jetty Luke seven was trapped beneath a sand pile built by playmates along the Tuscarawas River. Workers from Massillon Wheelt Co and the fire department arrived as he was freed, gasping for breath but with no injuries.
Nicholas S. Uebelhart 49 Canton clubman and Spanish American War veteran died suddenly of heart disease at 1607 Yale Ave NW. Survived by widow Lillian, sons Donald and James, daughter Lillian, brother Charles, and three sisters. Funeral Monday at 2 at the home with Rev. W E Bridge and Masonic services. burial in Westlawn Cemetery.
Detectives Van Alman and Lloyd traced a two month series of ten burglaries to two youths aged 15 and 13. The pair confessed to climbing through transoms and breaking windows with bricks in multiple downtown stores, including Harry Weiss Clothing, Stark Novelty, M Ablehardt Hardware, and Ruth & Hug Drug, among others. they were turned over to the juvenile court.
Sycamore Illinois July 7 A woman sheriff led a manhunt today for Henry Swann an Indian half breed who escaped from her jail last night Mrs L Boider Kalbeco sheriff says prisoners enjoyed her hospitality except Swann and twenty five others who refused to leave after Swann picked a lock and escaped
Sixteen sailors from the U S navy yard rescued Herbert Lugenbeel 31 from a rock in the Potomac at dawn after he sat exposed on a two by three foot ledge for 17 hours amid rapids. Rescue efforts involved islands rope lines and a breeches buoy by fire department crews.
Wright of Canada won the final of the diamond sculls at Henley. He led R. T. Lee of Worcester College Oxford University by one length, finishing in 8 minutes 24 seconds.
