Investigation deepens into Lowenstein death as Governor Al Smith of New York promises to include Canton among five Ohio cities on his itinerary. Smith aims to address supporters to bolster his Democratic presidential bid.
The county commissioners filed a transcript certifying the annexation of about 660 acres to the southwest and west parts of the city extending the corporate line. A smaller Canton Fertilizer & Chemical Co. parcel between 28th and 25th streets SE is included and will take effect the same date. The extension brings planning lines to Canton’s limits, with cross city planning coordination to be approved by both Canton and Massillon. Local figures note several hundred families and substantial real estate value in the area. Political chatter discusses Gov. Charles Hoppe former Toledo chauffeur pleaded guilty to kidnapping and murdering 7 year old Dorothy Szelagowski. Hoppe signaled a guilty plea after a conference with his wife and lawyers. He faces potential death or life imprisonment without parole and may be committed to a Lima state hospital if deemed insane. Dorothy was found on her grandfather’s porch after being abducted from her sleep.
Lieut. Einar Paul J Lundborg, isolated at Italia ice camp off North East Land, was rescued today by Lieut. Schiberg. Lundborg signaled good health aboard the rescue ship Quest at Virgo Bay. Schiberg had previously helped rescue Umberto Nobile from the Italia.

Police captured C. F. Davis, 28, at 6 30 p m Thursday, charging him with causing injury to Wilbert Noll, 845 Young at NE, by driving over the curb during a right turn at Lippertov and Mahoning rd NE. Davis fled the scene. witnesses identified him and the car license was recovered.
Police sought three young men after Rose Grobman 17 was kidnapped from a street car ride. They took her to an abandoned Kinsman road house and held her overnight. She was freed early this morning and reported to police.
Maj. Arturo Ferrarin and Maj. Carlo Del Prete of the Royal Italian Air Force arrived at Natal after a record long distance flight from Montecelio Rome to Touros Brazil. The Savoia Marchetti 64 monoplane completed the transatlantic journey, with the flyers reaching the beach near Natal at dawn.
Italian aviators Ferrarin and Del Prete, part of the 70 wing endurance flight, landed near Natal at Touros after a 432 mile leg and were found by Pilot Andre De Pecker surveying stormy coast. Rain hail and fog forced a turn northward as crowds watched the stormy progression.
