The finance and water committees will report Monday night against giving Service Director Harbert the $225 000 requested for water works improvements until a scientific investigation of the water department’s needs is completed. They urge immediate engagement of an expert to study the situation and report what is needed to ensure a permanent and reliable city water supply.
The city plans an underground wire ordinance within fire limits after a law committee meeting, opposing public utilities’ higher rates. A plan to remove 100 useless downtown poles is proposed, plus directing Safety Direct or Dunwoodie to remove the poles.
