After a three hour search, Clyde Ludlam, driver of the car in a spectacular accident below North Industry, was found asleep under a bush. He pleaded guilty to operating an automobile while intoxicated and was fined $50 and costs with a suspended 90 day workhouse sentence. Two companions fled in another car toward Canton. Deputy sheriffs Gibson and Daily investigated. The wreck damaged a brick manhole, two telephone poles, a highway wire, and left a rear wheel 200 feet away. later reports initially misidentified a badly hurt man as dead before confirming Ludlam's intoxication.
