The Navajo fast train jumped tracks near Domingo New Mexico just after midnight. Five people were killed including engineers and firemen and a passenger. Scores were injured as a consist of five Pullmans three day coaches and five baggage cars overturned. Relief trains were dispatched from Albuquerque to assist.

Springfield man held in federal bank robbery case
Carl Schilling, 23, of Springfield, arrested by U S Postal Inspector George F Ulch and police on a federal charge of robbing the Millersport bank safe on October 18, 1922. He is the last of seven alleged robbers. about $500 in postage stamps and government funds were taken. Six others remain held in Zanesville awaiting hearings July 12. Schilling denied involvement.

State Prohibition Inspectors Fiarl Ritchie and Frank Hannay arrested George Stankovitch of 85 Ernast and John Retz of 116 Ernast in Salem for bootlegging. Liquor and mash were seized at both sites.
