Albany July 1 Attorney Martin T Manton counsel for Charles T Becker former police lieutenant convicted of murder and sentenced to death said Governor Whitman granted Becker a reprieve until July 26 The governor planned to issue a statement later in the day Becker had been scheduled to die the week of July 12 and supporters expect a appeal to the US Supreme Court
