Tobias Schott Oes at Home in Massillon
Tobias Schott seventy two former mayor of Massillon and longtime Stark County Democrat died Sunday night at his home from asthma. A German immigrant who arrived in 1868, he served Massillon as mayor 1894 to 1898 and on the city council 1903 to 1905 including a term as council president 1907 to 1909. He held a state board of public works seat that was dissolved as he prepared to begin, later served on the civil service commission, and was a longtime Odd Fellows member. Survived by his widow two daughters Hulda and Emma and son Alvin of Columbus plus a brother Christian Schott.

Gets His Wages After 25 Years
George Brown won a judgment by confession against Frank Yingling for 9000 dollars plus interest for 300 months of work since 1889. Yingling, an eccentric Canton Massillourd resident, raised Brown and lived with him for 30 years on a farm, where Brown claimed unpaid wages. The case was aided by a deputy sheriff discovering the pair in bed when serving papers. Yingling holds a life interest in a valuable farm.
