Three fire companies battled a late Saturday blaze at the Cleveland Axle Co plant on Deuberay SW. The office was nearly destroyed with $1500 damage, while the roof and attic were saved. Watchmen alerted crews as flames spread toward the club house and factory building.

J Murray Spangler aged 66 of 801 12th St NW collapsed from heart disease while with family Friday. He invented the suction sweeper now produced by Hoover Suction Sweeper Co. and held other patents.
