Officers elected: Krieg president Herbruck secretary Hang vice president Frederick cashier Ziff manager foreign department.
Aaron P. Peffer aged 79 was found dead at the home of his daughter Mrs. Alen G. Eberly 1144 Broadway NW. He had been in failing health for months. A veteran of Co H 203 Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. Survived by two daughters Mrs. Eberly and Mrs. May Mason both of Canton, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral services set for Friday at 2 PM with Rev. Albert E. Day officiating.
Civil service examinations for road superintendents and foremen were held today in the court house. Seven applicants sought superintendent eligibility and 40 sought foreman lists. Tests emphasized experience and practical questions. Brant and Campbell led the sessions with Sickafoose staff assistance. Successful applicants will join an eligible list for state controlled road positions. Inspectors’ exams set for Friday.
Theodore Hammon, 8, died when a residence owned by Mr and Mrs Harry Hammon burned Wednesday night in Detroit. Edward Hammon, 2, was saved when a neighbor caught him after his father threw him from the porch roof. Oresa Hammon escaped unaided. The origin of the fire is unknown and damage is listed at $2,000.

Washington January 20 Senator Jones charged an agent of the United States Shipping Board disapproved a Newark New Jersey shipping line fearing it would favor British lines. He claimed British interests led a campaign against the American merchant marine and said the International Mercantile Marine allied with the British admiralty. Admiral Benson spoke at the convention as well.
Arthur Keim a wealthy Louisville banker and businessman fought off four highwaymen who tried to rob him in his garage at midnight. He knocked three unconscious and recovered their weapons while a fourth fled. A cut light wire and an apparent parked car near the scene were noted. Keim was grazed by a bullet but unharmed.
A divorce was refused but a decree awarded to Joe Soos on cross petition charging neglect. Angelo Spitale granted divorce from Pearl Spitale on neglect and infidelity. Thomas Devine pursued $25 from J Tschantz auto dealer after depositing for a car not delivered. Probate court sought to probate the will of Thomas Wild leaving property to sister Anna Wild, but the will could not be found. Pete Popas, 18, missing since Wednesday morning from 1009 Carnahan Ave NE. Firemen battled a small frame outbuilding fire at St Colfoal caused by children with matches. Ted Weidman and John Smith fined $500 for Crabbe Act violation in a local soft drink saloon. Burglars broke into Lloyd Oilana Grease Co. station on Mahoning Rd NK, stealing $69.84 from a desk drawer.
Governor Davis planned to name a new state highway commissioner to replace A. R. Taylor of Findlay. Potential appointees discussed in Columbus included P. Bookwalter of Dayton T. W. I. N. McCartney aged 22 an employee of the Pennsylvania Co was struck by a steel bar at the Pennsylvania yards just before noon Thursday. He received a concussion of the brain a contusion to the right side of the face and a laceration of the right ear. He was taken to Mercy hospital in serious condition and now listed as not serious. He lives at 231 Dueberay SW.
In Cincinnati on January 20 three self styled prohibition agents sought liquor from wealthy society man Anderson. They flashed badges, demanded drinks, led them to his cellar, and loaded a limousine with twenty quarts of whiskey and a quantity of gin.

Officers swooped on a restaurant where Pinski and two others wanted for robbery were dining. The trio fled to a cellar. Pinski stuck, enabling capture. Detective Shipe fired two shots toward the disturbance.
